WALT DISNEY STUDIO
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) original production animation drawing red and black pencil on untrimmed animation sheet, image size: 2.75" x 4"
This original rough animation drawing of Grumpy was created by a Disney animator in development of a scene in Walt Disney's first animated feature. It is likely from a scene in the deleted bed-building sequence, several scenes of which went through rough animation before the decision was made to edit the sequence from the film. In this sequence the Seven Dwarfs design and build a bid for Snow White; it was determined during production that it and the soup-eating sequence slowed down the progress of the story. The animator wrote the designation "318" at lower right to indicate this original's place in the scene.
