SLEEPING BEAUTY

Walt Disney Studio, SLEEPING BEAUTY, TWO (2) ORIGINAL PRODUCTION ANIMATION DRAWINGS, 1959. These two (2) matching original rough animation drawings of Prince Phillip and Princess Aurora (as Briar Rose) were created by Disney animators in development of a scene in Walt Disney's Technirama animated feature. Milt Kahl supervised the animation of Phillip and Marc Davis that of Aurora in this scene from the wonderful sequence referred to in the script draft as "Boy Meets Girl." Milt Kahl and Marc Davis were two of Walt Disney's Nine Old Men: his master animators who from the 1940s through the 1960s formed the core group of supervising animators for one superb animated feature after another. Drawn in pencil on two (2) untrimmed animation sheets, the art measures 5.5" x 4.25" and 6.5" x 5.5". The animators wrote the designations "71" and "C-71" at lower right to indicate each original's place in the scene. In addition, Phillip's word of dialogue, "sorry," is written at upper right. There is light handling; paper has darkened just a bit with age
